Happy Father's Day from Coach Z and Atlanta Select!!

Alario Harris - Select STAR!!!

Mr. Alario Harris is a young (15 year old), rising Junior at Parkview High School, (PHS), in Lilburn, GA who led his 2012-2013 Varsity basketball team, as starting PG, to a huge win against #1 ranked Archer High School.

He currently plays with the Mighty Atlanta Select Tenth Grade BLACK The Future Team under Head Coach Jon Mandeldove.

In the classroom, Alario takes AP History classes, Honors language Arts, Honors Spanish and maintained a steady 3.5 GPA.  He was recently nominated on behalf of PHS as Academic Athlete of the Year and honored by the Gwinnett County Tip Off Club with a plaque.

His schedule is quite full on a regular basis but he makes time to hang out with friends, read to his brother's 2nd grade class, acts as the assistant coach for his brothers' recreation basketball team and plus he is an avid movie junkie!

Alario personifies what an Atlanta Select student athlete is all about. 

We can gladly say; Alario -Just Go Select!!!

A Select - Now a Morehouse Man

Congratulations to Marquis Brown, now a graduate of Morehouse, and thus, a Morehouse Man. That is what  Atlanta Select is all about. Mr. Brown had the opportunity to play basketball at Morehouse and received an excellent education. We are confident that his future is extremely bright. Just "Keep on Pushing". We are proud that he was once a "Select".

MVP in the classroom and on the basketball court - DJ -The Mighty Eighth Grade SILVER Team

Derrick (DJ) Lottie, Jr. ended his eighth grade year at Sutton Middle School with a bang.  He received several honors and awards.

-- MVP, awarded for best offensive and defensive player and being a leader in the classroom and the court.

-- Honor Student all 3 years in Middle School.

-- He exceeded in all areas on the CRCT (Perfect Score : English/Language Arts, 900+ in Math, Social Studies, Honors Award in French.

DJ has been a member of the Mighty SILVER team for 6 years. Pictured above with his grandfather receiving a MVP award from Atlanta Select when he was in the second grade. He is now the key Point Guard on the Mighty Eighth Grade SILVER team.

The Ultimate Champions. - The Pennys

Congratulations to Head Coach Richard Penny and his son Assistant Coach Kaleb Penny for receiving their degrees at graduation from Clayton State College, Saturday, May 4, 2013.  The Pennys' coach the Mighty Atlanta Select Eleventh Grade BLACK Team.

True champions by example. Coach Penny while during class work toward his degree, guided his team  through several major Exposure tournaments to include several Big Shots and the Bob Gibbons.  Additionally, he takes the time to tutor his student athletes to ensure that they are prepared to graduate from high school on time and with good grades.

As his team visit the different cities he ensures that a tour is taken to a local college campus to expose his student athletes to a typical college environment.  He is fulfilling the goal of Atlanta Select by  inspiring his players to pursue a DEGREE OF HIGHER EDUCATION AT THE COLLEGE LEVEL.

The Pennys' are practicing what they preach.  Our congratulations again, to Coaches Richard and Kaleb Penny for this notable achievement.
